Kitchen Olympics # 7 Electronic Cardio Rush
Introducing the latest event in the stable of Kitchen Olympic sports.
I am making a bold claim here. I believe I hold the world record for the number of times a mobile phone can be dropped BEFORE it dies.
WHAT IF IT RATTLES NOW?

I can see you out there waving your critically injured i-phones and i-pads.
But you see that is the defining moment of this sport – your Kitchen Olympics.
As these electronic marvels weave their way into the fabric of your lives, when one starts to fall to the ground, your level of cardio activity ramps up in response. Magic isn’t it?
Who needs boring old treadmills?
Reach new adrenaline levels by juggling with your phone as it falls to the earth.
Achieve champion status if you add in another item. Coffee in a cup? Perfect!

Another refinement is the snatch and grab method.

ADD VARIETY TO THE LANDING OBJECTIVE
My personal best was my phone landing on solid concrete in a car park and skittering under a car.
I had to start a new phone partnership after that momentous event. My phone had a terminal rattle and was retired incapacitated that very day.
There are no limits.
Indoor – mind the toilet bowl. (Why are you talking in there anyway?)
Outdoor – mind sand at the beach and remember to count the number of places you have been – if you have lost the phone. (Refer to Kitchen Olympics #5 – Involuntary Treasure Hunt for tips)
TRIAL MORE EXPENSIVE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT.
My relatively new and heavier i-pad Pro has landed on one of the pointy ends on the floor. I lunged too late! But never fear – my record for ipad dropping is still climbing steadily.
GO FOR GOLD MEDAL PERFORMANCES
Laptops are the superior form of equipment to jump-start your cardio when they plummet to the ground.

I had a shiver when I realised this event pictured had the coffee cup refinement built in!
The rapid increase in heart rate when all these elements collided would have been spectacular!
There you have it, folks.
In the interests of your ongoing good health, there are many ways you can achieve movement and agility in your Boomer years.
Please feel free to share your moments of glory below. If you like what you read, please share and pass on the smiles.

Loved this post and your photos. I too have had my fair share of dropping and shattering my phone. A few weeks ago, I dropped it while getting into my car and I didn’t think I was ever going to get it out from under the car without having to move the car. NOT to mention trying to get up off of the ground myself with the look of gracefulness in public! oh my, oh my…
Last week the doctor told me I should think about some sort of exercise apparatus for the house. I don’t like treadmills so I’m leaning towards a stationary bicycle. When I had my left knee replacement and was put on one of them during Physical Therapy rocking back and forth for about two weeks…when I finally made the full rotation on that knee while sitting on the stationary bicycle – I let out a huge squeal, “there is a God”! From that point on, the pain in my knee seemed to subside. What’s that saying, “no pain no gain”.
When I was without my cell phone when it was being replaced…there were lots of pains as I don’t memorize phone numbers much anymore and my calendar was lost.
Lessons learned, now everything is backed up to the cloud in the event on one of ‘those’ drops – I find myself without a cell phone again.
I am glad you enjoyed it Nancy!
I am with you sister on returning to vertical after enforced horizontal scrabbling for items. No grace, plenty of grunting.
Knee replacement is in my future for sure..
I will hold on to the gorgeous vision you gave me of rocking from side to side and then shrieking ‘there is a God!’
Laughing out loud is good for us all!
Thank you so much.
Cheers F
